Remove the pillow cover. Pre-treat the stains with soft cloth or bristle brush that had been soaked in warm soapy water. Machine wash, max 40°C (104°F), normal cycle. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, do not dry-clean. Iron, steam, or dry low heat only. Fluff to reshape when assembling it back together.
You’re managing your programs, your people, your participants, your assessments and evaluation, your board, your operations, your fundraising, your volunteers, your marketing and mandatory reporting, and when the rugs get cleaned and the fridge purged of moldy food. You’re the one it seems who is managing it all. How, on earth, can you manage the time to get this grant proposal done before the cutoff?
Let the Calm Coping Pillow be your signal to everyone around you that you need quiet, you need focus, you need each person to do their part in collaborating with their piece of the proposal preparation, and you need calm to execute this well.
Someone in the sector once said to our founder “You’re insane to be a grant writer – it’s like waking up each morning, writing a dissertation, mailing it off, and then starting another before you even take a break for the bathroom.” He wasn’t all that inaccurate in many ways. The work that has to be done prior to being prepared to submit, the preparation, the research, the deep thinking –it’s a lot like the years put into a dissertation on fast forward. This is the grant writer life. Let our Calm Coping Pillow remind you that you’re better when you embrace trust in your knowledge of your work and impact. Trust yourself. Get back to your calm. You’ve got this. You know this stuff. You’re doing great.
